Before changing springs, installing cartridges, replacing a shock or purchasing another performance component, establish what the motorcycle can do when the equipment already on it is working in the correct range.

This year, initial suspension setups will be completed Thursday and Friday only, allowing us to take the process beyond the parking lot. I’ll be joining several of the group rides throughout the event, giving riders the opportunity to experience their new setup in real-world conditions, discuss what they’re feeling, and make further adjustments where needed.

This creates a more complete process: establish a proper baseline, ride the motorcycle, evaluate the results, and refine the setup based on real feedback.

What is Sag?

Sag establishes where the motorcycle operates within its available suspension travel, but the process doesn’t end there.

A complete setup evaluates the motorcycle as a system: spring preload, front and rear sag, chassis balance, compression damping, rebound damping and available adjustment range.

The goal isn’t simply to reach a number.

The goal is to put the motorcycle in the correct operating window for you.
